Artist’s Statement: On my annual trip to Lake Champlain I was able to spend a lot of time with my extended family. I decided to capture this candid moment because I felt that it truly embodied the spirit of childhood. The innocence, and carefree attitude emphasized with the high saturation stood out to me as harshly contrasting the stress of adolescence and adulthood. I have been drawing and painting all my life, and have recently expanded to experimenting with photography. The lines created by the body and toy which are mirrored in the corner of the photo draw the eyes directly to my cousin. Hopefully, this photo will serve as a reminder to disengage from the busy nature of our lives and appreciate the simple things in life.
