Artist’s Statement: I took this photo at Brooklyn Bridge Park, on a family trip to Brooklyn. The locks crowding the railing caught my eye, and I tried to capture them. I loved that they represented a small act of rebellion—a passing parks employee told me that they were not allowed, and were to be clipped the next day. I don’t know who put them there or why, but I hope it was meaningful for them, and I am grateful that they did. I like the glint of the light off the locks and the blurry Financial District skyline in the background.
