Rise Up by Annie Poole

Artist’s Statement: Maya Angelou’s poem “Still I Rise” inspired me to create this image. I overlaid my handwritten text of the line “But still, like dust, I’ll rise” in Photoshop onto a photo I took of a girl with her piercing eyes full of determination. The photo and poem are a call to action, capturing the strength and resilience of girls.
