Glitch by Alex Berman

Artist’s statement: At 15, I sometimes struggle to fully inhabit and sit comfortably with my evolving identity. As it continues to develop, as I continue to discover who I am, I often feel just slightly out of focus. And even with some tweaks and adjustments (why this is primarily a pencil drawing), I can’t always get the picture to focus clearly. And sometimes, when I think I’ve figured it out, there’s a glitch that throws that identity out of focus again.

Alex Berman was born and raised in Manhattan and is currently a sophomore at the High School of American Studies at Lehman College in the Bronx. When not out running (preferably in the rain), Alex can usually be found drawing, writing, or reading with a cup of tea and a cuddly kitten. Alex is also an aspiring novelist and a corduroy-pants enthusiast.
