Too Jeweled

Too Jeweled by Rama Lapidus - Photo by Molly Voit

i live in jewels;
i walk on diamonds
sleep in sapphires
wear amethysts and
eat emeralds.
imagine this was not so,
if i had never
seen a jewel
touched a gem
or even dreamt of such luxury.
would i be the me i am,
or would i be better as a being
because privilege breeds poison
and often
beauty must be bare?
