Zehot by Noa Schwarts

Artist’s Statement: This piece is called Zehot, which means “identity” in Hebrew. I am passionate about my Israeli nationality and expressing language in my work. Therefore, I have embedded the word repeatedly in the top corner of my painting. I painted a young child (my brother) in order to convey that your identity shapes you as a person from a young age. The piece also portrays a strong message of pride—pride in your upbringing and nationality—and a flag is a key way of expressing this.
