Pink Hair

Shower time is when I reflect.
I wash my hair and think.
Who am I?

Dark pink water circles the drain.
Swirling Swirling.
Gone.

The water is clear now but my answer is not.
I wash my face and think.
Who am I?

Eyeliner rubs away under my hands.
Smudging Smudging.
Gone.

My face is clear now but my answer is not.
I dry myself and think.
Who am I?

To others.
I am just a girl with pink hair who wears makeup.
I’m emo or punk and I must think I’m cool.

They’ll never know that I like to read.
Or how much I love my dogs.
They’ll never know that I am a sister and a daughter and a friend.

But my question is not to them.
They don’t know who I am.

I am my thoughts and my actions.
My good days and my bad.

I am my family and my friends.

I am a girl with pink hair.
