Artist’s Statement: I created this piece using a photography medium known as “camera-less photography”. This photogram—a photographic image made without the use of a camera but rather purely light—was inspired by my desire to explore the humanization of animals, specifically through intermixing a common creature, like a cat, with a common human experience, like a birthday party. Photograms are created by setting objects directly onto a light-sensitive surface and then exposing it to light, capturing the image on paper.
