We pray to the god you don’t want us to believe in
Adonai save us from these people
who’ve branded us with their numbers
and tortured us with their hate
the salty tears of our ancestors on Pesach
the burning questions we ask: why
why do you belittle us with your disgust
and why are you so weak
to think that we hide our devil horns with our kippas and our tails with our tallit
the knots are the cries of those you slaughtered
(the six million that were never enough for you)
Death has tried us many times
but forever our culture will grow
like weeds in your perfect little garden; we sneak through the cracks of your concrete hatred
out of spite for Haman out of spite
and self-respect
for people like you.
