My name is Emily Maremont (she/her/hers), and I am a member of the class of 2025 at University High School in San Francisco, California. I am a member of my school’s a cappella group, and the leader of an affinity group for students with diverse family structures. In addition to acting in school productions, I collaborated with students in the United States and Zimbabwe for The Marsh Youth Theatre’s International Teen Performance Festival. During the summer of 2022, as part of the Jewish Family and Children’s Services (JFCS) Summer Internship Program, I worked at Manny’s, a community gathering space that holds events for people to engage in civic and political life. My play The Mitten was a winner in PlayGround’s 14th Annual Young Playwrights Project, and my fiction has been published in City College of San Francisco’s Forum Magazine. I was a 2021 National Gold Medalist in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, as well as a 2022 YoungArts Merit Winner in Writing/Play or Script.

In my spare time I volunteer with ENGin, an organization that pairs Ukrainian youth with English-speakers for free online conversation practice. Some passions that appear in my writing include history, Judaism, and social justice. I am excited for an amazing year with jGirls+!
