My name is Gianna Goldfarb and I am a Swiss American living in New York, New York, where I am a sophomore at the Ramaz Upper School. I am passionate about history, politics, Judaism, philosophy, traveling, literature, skiing, music, and art. I am a photo editor on my school’s newspaper, and I am involved in many extracurricular activities such as the volleyball team; Yiddish club; Ancient Greek club; debate team; politics club; and the photography club, my favorite. Outside of school, I enjoy playing violin, learning in a program called Tikvah Online Academy, tutoring, and of course, taking pictures.
I am constantly taking photos, and I am very passionate about developing and honing my photography skills. However, it wasn’t until last year when some pictures I submitted to the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards competition for fun actually won, that I started to take photography seriously. Ever since then, photography has been more than a hobby to me; now, I live and breathe it. Since receiving those three Scholastic Awards, I have been shooting nonstop, and I am very thankful that I have this opportunity at jGirls+ to cultivate this passion and truly turn it into something more.
