Hi! I’m Keren, a member of the class of 2022 and a lover of poetry from Teaneck, New Jersey. While much of my leisure time (and bored-in-class time) is spent writing, I also love music, chocolate, and my Jewish community. As an inaugural member of my school’s Mental Health Alliance, I’m a fierce advocate for mental health awareness and sometimes explore those themes when I write. My introduction to spoken word poetry—which I’m getting the hang of—was at the Yeshiva Poetry Society slams. I also play piano for our annual school performance. I look forward to being head of instrumental this year. I see writing as exploration on paper, and I’m excited to work with fellow writers and editors at jGirls+!
